• Cancellation Policy

At Abel Tasman Kayaks we understand that travel plans can change unexpectedly due to illness, accidents, or a change of heart. We appreciate your understanding that when you reserve a spot with us, we may have turned away other eager clients and incurred expenses for staffing, transportation, accommodation, food and processing your booking. Additionally, we prioritize safety and respect the sea and New Zealand weather, avoiding unnecessary risks.

Payment

To confirm your reservation, we require full payment or voucher details at the time of booking.

Cancellation by Abel Tasman Kayaks

  1. We reserve the right not to launch a trip on safety grounds if we consider that the wind or sea conditions are unsafe for the group. This is our decision. In this situation we give a refund in full.
  2. Once the trip has commenced, there are no refunds. If weather conditions change during the day, necessitating a water taxi return, and the group is unable to return by kayak to Marahau or, very occasionally, must be cancelled at some stage during the day, we will cover the cost of water taxiing clients’ kayaks back to Marahau, and cover their passenger fare where there is no practical walk out option. Where a practical walk out option does exist, and clients seek to return via water taxi, their passenger fare is their own cost.

Additional Notes:

  1. Abel Tasman Kayaks reserves the right to cancel a client’s tour in the event of non-compliance with the terms and conditions Abel Tasman Kayaks sea kayak guided or rental briefing, or relevant rules and regulations governing the Abel Tasman National Park, its foreshore and adjoining waterways. In this situation, there is no refund.
  2. Abel Tasman Kayaks may alter the trip direction due to kayaking conditions or kayak availability. This change does not entitle customers to cancel without adherence to the cancellation policy.
  3. In the event of third-party accommodation unavailability, we offer alternative options or a full refund.

TRAVEL INSURANCE:

We advise all clients to consider arranging appropriate travel insurance that covers Adventure Tourism. On guided trips, Abel Tasman Kayaks is responsible for all company equipment on that trip (e.g. kayaks, tents etc). On Freedom Rentals, the client is solely responsible for any loss or damage to all equipment. The hirers’ responsibility ceases once Abel Tasman Kayaks equipment has been loaded onto an approved water taxi or, where the kayak is paddled back to Marahau, loaded onto the kayak transporters. Under all circumstances, the client is solely responsible for their personal equipment.

What our customers say

We had an amazing day out on the water, exploring the coast and Islands of the national park. Well worth the trip, our guide Micah was amazing with lots of information about the area. We did so well went also include Spilt Apple Rock. A very weary but happpy group got back to Marahau

Such a great way to spend a day! The hike to Observation beach was great with lots of spots to view the ocean and beaches along the way. Lunch was excellent; I am so impressed with how tasty it was, especially since it was so simple. Our guide Louisa was helpful, knowledgeable and clear in her instructions and was also super friendly, really enjoyed chatting to her along the way.... read more

Ontzettend genoten. Top.

Abel Tasman Kayaks supported our 9 day hiking (self guided) and kayaking trip. There were a few hiccups along the way, as the trip got shifted around from kayaking first, hiking last, to the reverse, due to inclement weather. The owner, Jack, took us to the café pre our departure, treated us to coffee and muffins, explained the necessary changes, and gave us a revised detailed itinerary. What we... read more

this was our first stop in NZ, and we were very impressed. All the guides we met on our 2-day overnight were excellent. The company was well run, the food was great, and Nathan in particular was a very friendly, knowledgeable and capable guide. I totally recommend this company.

Earth, sea and sky is the perfect way to experience the beauty of Abel Tasman national park.
Our guides were the perfect mix of funny, friendly and knowledgeable. There are a handful of companies that offer a similar sort of trip, we chose this one from advice from a local, and have no regrets. Perfect way to spend a day.

There is something very special about exploring the marine reserve ❤️
The park is rich with history. From its early Māori settlement to its naming after Dutch explorer Abel Tasman, this landscape lends itself to lots of story telling and discovery.
