From Marahau to Bark Bay, Earth, Sea & Sky packs a lot into one day.

Experience the famous Falls River Swing Bridge by foot and an afternoon paddling in the Astrolabe.

Start the morning with a Water Taxi to Torrent Bay. Walking unguided from Torrent Bay the track climbs steadily, then sidles around two valleys and above an inlet to Falls River, which is crossed by a suspension bridge. The 47 metre bridge is a real highlight of this trip. Beyond the river, the track meanders through lush coastal forest before dropping back to sea level to Bark Bay. Enjoy a freshly made lunch at Bark Bay packed with nutrition before being picked up by the water taxi.

Relax on-board the boat and enjoy the coastal view of the area you have just walked. Upon reaching Observation Beach meet the kayak guide. Take in all the highlights of the southern Abel Tasman, experience up close the beautiful Astrolabe Islands. If conditions permit, kayak-sail back into Marahau on the afternoon sea breeze.

Paddling is our business, with all activities supported by our purpose-built kayak base, free hot showers, free wifi, free equipment storage & client transporters. We also provide high-quality soft gear – fitted for each client by our guides and high-quality hard gear – customised for comfort for each client.

On this trip covering the Astrolabe coastline you have a professional guide with you for around 4 hours sharing their knowledge and passion of the Abel Tasman. We also cater a snack and lunch designed around your health and energy.

Every trip is unique like each of our clients.

Our guide was great, super knowledgeable and brought lots of positive energy.
The views were amazing, we saw lots of wildlife and with the high tide we paddled through 3 beautiful lagoons.
The lunch was also delicious!

This was a beautiful way to experience Abel Tasman and get close to the wildlife in the area. I did a tour that went the full day. We ended up doing good 4h of active kayaking, broken up by lunch and a few other stops. Gear and snacks/lunch were super tasty and the guides even packed up hot drinks (tea/coffee) for the beach. We had great sunny weather but it... read more

We did the 3 day classic guided kayak trip. From the first contact with the company through to when we said our last goodbyes, Abel Tasman Kayaks were fantastic. Our guide, Awatea was amazing, whipping up fabulous meals at each lunch and overnight stop. He was an experienced guide, coaching us through a couple of more exciting sections on the route and we always felt safe and... read more

My husband and I did the 2-Day Classic kayaking tour with ATK. It was a tremendous highlight of our trip! We were led by Liana who was a wonderful, knowledgeable and highly skilled facilitator. She was professional and engaging from beginning to end. Her knowledge of the surroundings was very impressive - she could spot animals from very far away and knew loads about each one! There was no shortage... read more

From then on everything was really well organised by Abel Tasman Kayaks starting with our pickup from Nelson. The Abel Tasman coast is absolutely beautiful to kayak but Nathan really made our day - he was friendly, enthusiastic, extremely knowledgeable about the local area and its history and really funny! We all had a great day! Delicious lunch on the beach, stunning scenery and we saw seals and penguins!! Highly recommend, one of our highlights of New Zealand :)
